On Friday, Jess Brown-Fuller MP visited Game, Set & Match (GSAM), a long-established independent sports and school uniform specialist serving the Chichester community.

Founded in 1995, GSAM is a family-owned business with an in-house embroidery and printing department. The shop supplies school uniforms and specialises in cricket, hockey, rugby, bowls and racquet sports equipment, supporting local clubs, schools and grassroots teams across the area, providing a genuinely vital service for all these groups.

During her visit, Jess met the GSAM team to discuss the impact of current business rates on independent retailers like their own, and hear their views on the Government’s School Uniform Bill. They also discussed the ongoing concerns around roads and traffic in Chichester and Bognor Regis, particularly the effect congestion has on local trade and accessibility.

The future of Chichester Hockey Club was also raised, as the club currently faces losing its home pitch after April. Having consistently championed local sports teams, Jess heard more about the impact this could have on players, families and the wider sporting community.

After of the visit, Jess said:

“I was delighted to visit Game, Set & Match, a fantastic family-run business that has supported schools, clubs and families in our area for over three decades.
“Independent retailers like GSAM are providing a customer service that can’t be matched by online retailers but face a challenging climate, where the cost of living crisis means people have less left at the end of the month to spend on new sports equipment. Every pound spent in a local retailer stays in the local economy, so I’d encourage everybody to visit GSAM on the Quarry Lane Industrial Estate for all their sporting needs’.

Game, Set and Match shared their thoughts after meeting with Jess Brown-Fuller:

“It was great to meet Jess Brown-Fuller on Friday to discuss all things independent business, retail, local sport, workwear and schoolwear.
We hope she'll be back in the near future for a new bat!”
