Jess Brown-Fuller has written to Persimmon Homes demanding urgent action over the neglected pond at Lake View in Pagham, warning that continued delays risk permanently harming a valued local wildlife site.

Jess’ intervention follows a meeting with Jan Behr, Chair of Highways and Amenities at Pagham Parish Council, at which the two discussed the pond's deteriorating condition and its long-term future.

Pagham Parish Council has agreed in principle to take on responsibility for the pond, but only once it has been restored to a satisfactory standard. Persimmon Homes had previously committed to carrying out the required works, and a contractor was appointed following a lengthy selection process. However, the deposit needed to begin the work was never paid, and the project has since stalled. Contact with the Parish Council on the matter has stopped entirely.

Brown-Fuller branded the breakdown in communication "unacceptable," pointing to the pond's role as a habitat for local wildlife and its importance to the character of the area. In her letter, she pressed Persimmon Homes to set out its current position, confirm whether it will proceed with the agreed works, and explain how it intends to work with the Parish Council to reach a lasting resolution.

She has also called on the developer to re-engage directly with the Parish Council without delay, noting that any works must be timed carefully around the bird nesting season and cannot be left to the last minute.
