On 25 April 2026, Jess Brown-Fuller attended the Later Life Living Festival at the New Park Community Centre, Chichester, a free community event organised by the Sussex Care Hub, designed to help people plan confidently and live well in later life.

The festival brought together around 30 exhibitors offering expert guidance across a range of areas including health and wellbeing, care options and fee planning, travel, and legacy and funeral planning. Visitors were able to enjoy friendly conversations with specialists, hands-on demonstrations, and pamper sessions, alongside practical advice tailored to the needs of people in later life.

Jess’ visit comes at a moment when total spending on social care by local authorities reached a record £29.3bn in 2024/2025, up by £12.4bn since 2015/16. This means social care now accounts for up to 80% of council budgets, which have already had to make vast cuts to other council services. Despite this, public satisfaction with social care is at 13% and dissatisfaction is nearly 50%, research by the Kings Fund has found.

Jess ran a pop-up surgery at the event, which gave local residents an opportunity to meet and chat informally with their MP in a relaxed, community-focused setting, reflecting her ongoing commitment to staying connected with constituents across the Chichester constituency.

Following the event, Chris White-Smith, Chair of the Sussex Care Hub said:

“Sussex Care Hub aims to connect adults and families with trusted, compassionate providers who support every aspect of living well in later life.
We are delighted with the success of our first Sussex Care Hub Chichester event. The atmosphere was one of joy, fun and positivity for both exhibitors and visitors alike”.

Jess Brown-Fuller said:

"Events like the Later Life Living Festival are exactly what community should look like. Local residents and their families deserve access to clear, friendly advice on everything from care options to health and wellbeing.
I am committed to ensuring that all people in our Chichester community are supported to plan for later life with confidence, and it was a privilege to be part of a day that will hopefully be the first of many”.
