As Communications Officer for Jess Brown-Fuller MP, you will drive engagement with constituents using a range of communication channels, on the issues that matter to them. As Campaigns Organiser for the Chichester Liberal Democrats, you will drive campaigns for the upcoming Mayoral and Unitary elections in 2026 and 2027, as well as running campaigns in support of Jess Brown-Fuller MP and sitting councillors.

This role will be shared with the current postholder to ensure full-time support for both offices. This will allow each of you to play to your strengths and will need excellent organisation, time-management and team working skills.

Key Responsibilities for Communications Officer:

·       Ensure that the proactive content calendar is kept updated and is in line with strategic aims, in collaboration with the Office Manager.

·       Establish and build a great working relationship with local and regional media organisations, write press releases, and ensure regular coverage of Jess’s work, in collaboration with the regional media team.

·       Monitor and update Jess Brown-Fuller MP’s social media and website presence. Follow up on social media queries and comments. Meet agreed targets to grow online engagement.

·       Produce online graphics and video content, as well as publicising surgeries and news alerts etc.

·       Establish and produce a regular e-newsletter to constituents.

·       Ensure that all content is consistently branded, and all written material is in the correct tone of voice.

·       Monitor media coverage and produce reports on communications and engagement with constituents against KPIs.

·       Establish and manage a photo library for both offices.

·       There may be a requirement for the role holder to work occasionally outside of the normal working hours and travel to London.

Key Responsibilities for Campaigns Organiser: Build capacity within our team of activists and councillors

·       Organise events and campaigns to recruit new volunteers across the district.

·       Develop and manage a process for guiding new volunteers into roles which suit them.

·       Encourage volunteers to “upskill” and move into more responsible roles over time.

·       Ensure that relevant training is available to support the development of the volunteer team.

·       Assist sitting councillors and candidates to build their own local teams.

Project manage the campaign

·       Together with the Core Campaign Team, draw up the Chichester campaign plan.

·       Make sure the campaign plan is delivered on-time and in-budget, working closely with the rest of the campaign team and activists.

Produce literature

·       Manage, with the involvement of other members of the campaign team, the production of literature from inception to delivery of printed leaflets to the distribution network.

Organise a regular canvassing programme

·       Devise a data-driven canvassing programme which supports the campaign plan.

·       Publish the programme to activists and encourage them to participate.

Upon appointment you will be required to comply with the Baseline Personnel Security Standard, undertaken by the Members’ Staff Verification Office (MSVO). See Members’ Staff Verification Office (MSVO) page for further info. MPs generally pay staff in accordance with IPSA guidelines.
