On 11 May 2026, Jess Brown-Fuller visited Chichester Free School, meeting with students and the school's leadership team to discuss her role as their Member of Parliament.
Jess was invited by the school to speak to students about how she represents their community in Parliament, and how she can amplify young people's voices through her work. The students came exceptionally well prepared, with questions spanning six thoughtful themes: her career and day-to-day life as an MP, how laws are made, issues impacting young people, what is being done to improve Chichester, education, and political engagement.

Among the topics raised were climate change and World Earth Day, online safety for young people, how transport in the area could be improved, and whether the voting age should be lowered. The students also raised the issue of a lack of sports fields for the school and Jess committed to working with West Sussex County Council to explore options for additional land.
A key message from Jess throughout the visit was the importance of young people engaging with politics, even before they are old enough to vote. She encouraged students to write to her office directly if there is an issue they feel passionate about or a change they would like to see, making clear that their voices matter and that she is there to represent them. This follows Jess’ recent work to engage with her young constituents, including an annual youth surgery for under 25s.
Following the visit, Jess Brown-Fuller said:
"Thank you to Chichester Free School for inviting me to speak with your young people, it was a real pleasure.
The students had clearly put a great deal of thought into their questions, and it was inspiring to see them engaging so actively with how Parliament works and how their MP can speak up for them. From climate change to online safety, they showed a genuine curiosity about the world and a real desire to make it better.
I also had an important conversation with the school's leadership about the practical challenges they are facing, from congestion and active travel to a lack of green space and sports facilities. I am committed to working with the school and local partners to find solutions that benefit both students and the wider community."
