Jess Brown-Fuller MP Visits Bersted Parish Council Summer Playscheme

Jess Brown-Fuller, MP for Chichester, visited Bersted Parish Council's Summer Playscheme to see first-hand the support it provides to local families during the school holidays.

The scheme, run annually by Bersted Parish Council, provides a free packed lunch for all local children every Thursday and Friday throughout the school holidays, alongside entertainment for children to enjoy. The packed lunches are provided and funded by the Rotary Club of Bognor Hotham.

During her visit, Jess met organisers, volunteers, and families making use of the scheme, and heard about the difference it makes to households during a period that can place significant additional financial pressure on parents.

Following the visit, Jess has tabled a formal parliamentary motion thanking Bersted Parish Council and the Rotary Club of Bognor Hotham for their work in delivering the scheme, and calling on the Government to provide greater support to parish councils in facilitating similar schemes within their communities across the country.

The summer holidays can bring real financial pressure for many parents, and initiatives like this make a genuine difference. I will continue to call on the Government to support parish councils in providing schemes like this both locally and across the country.”
