Jess Brown-Fuller MP Urges Council to Improve Local Bus Services with New Funding

On 24 April 2026, Jess Brown-Fuller wrote to West Sussex Conservative County Councillor and Cabinet member for Transport, Joy Dennis, regarding the proposed changes to the 46/47 and 50 bus services, specifically the removal of the service to East Broyle.

Jess’ letter welcomes the Council's willingness to engage with residents' concerns and stresses the importance of maintaining a direct bus link between East Broyle and the local high street. It also raises the wider issues with bus provision that residents continue to report, including frequently delayed and cancelled services, rising fares, and a lack of concessions for young people.

With the government's recent allocation of new Local Authority Bus Grant funding, Jess has asked the Council to set out clearly how this money will be spent - including how it will prioritise improvements to frequency and reliability, how it will ensure more affordable services reach deprived communities, and how young people will benefit.

In her letter, Jess said:

“It is vital that communities in the city, including those in East Broyle, continue to enjoy a direct service to their local high street.”

The letter follows Jess’ continued work on improving transport in the South East, having recently hosted a Parliamentary debate in Westminster Hall, where she also criticised the increase in the bus fare cap from £2 to £3.
