Jess Brown-Fuller has highlighted growing frustration among rural residents after a constituent in the village of Bosham was told they would face a four-month wait for a GP appointment while hundreds of new homes are planned nearby.

Speaking at a Westminster Hall debate, the Chichester MP raised concerns that local healthcare services are struggling to keep pace with housing development in rural communities.

Jess highlights the rural frustration as new homes bring have brought hundreds extra patients to a village GP surgery where residents already face a four-month wait.

Jess pointed out that plans for around 300 new homes behind the Bosham GP surgery could bring an estimated 600 additional patients onto the practice list, increasing pressure on services that residents already find difficult to access.

She warned that the lack of supporting infrastructure is one of the main reasons communities become frustrated with new housing developments.

Jess stated that an “infrastructure-first” approach is needed so that essential services such as GP appointments expand alongside new housing, rather than lagging behind population growth.

Jess has reiterated that rural communities across the Chichester area deserve properly planned services that match their growth, ensuring residents can access healthcare whenever they need it.
