Jess Brown-Fuller MP visited Bishop Luffa School last Friday to meet members of the school’s debating society and take part in a lively discussion on politics, public speaking, and current affairs.
The visit is part of Jess’ ongoing work to inspire young people to engage with politics, debate, and public life. During the visit, Jess joined students in a mini debate on school uniform, giving pupils the opportunity to test their arguments and experience a real-world debating exchange.
The session was followed by a wide-ranging Q&A discussion, where students asked Jess about her career journey into politics and a range of national and local political issues including planning and development, access to social media for under 16s, and her thoughts on plans to lower the voting age.
Following the visit, Jess said:
“It was brilliant to meet the students at Bishop Luffa and hear their ideas and questions. Their energy and enthusiasm for debate is inspiring! I hope today’s session encourages them to keep asking questions, and make their voices heard - our democracy is so much stronger when young people are part of it.”
This visit continues Jess’ commitment to engaging with schools and communities across her constituency, helping young people understand the political process and empowering them to take an active role in shaping the future.
