Jess Brown-Fuller MP joins official opening of the Witterings Care Shop

Last week, on 11 September, Jess Brown-Fuller MP formally opened the new Witterings Care Shop, cutting the ribbon alongside trustees of the Witterings Community Forum and the Woodger Trust, as well as representatives from local charities, businesses, and community organisations.

The Witterings Care Shop builds on the long-established success of the Selsey Care Shop, set up by the Selsey Community Forum nearly a decade ago. The new hub will serve as a one‑stop shop for residents across the Witterings and surrounding villages, offering access to community groups, activities, and essential services.

Speaking at the opening, Jess thanked everyone who helped bring the project to life, including the Woodger Trust, whose funding made the work possible. She noted that although the Care Shop has been running for only a few weeks, it has already welcomed nearly 200 people through its doors, demonstrating the meaningful impact it is having on the community.

Following the event, Jess said:

“It was a pleasure to join everyone at the official opening in East Wittering and to welcome this hugely important charity to the local community.

“Behind the area’s reputation for affluence, many residents are dealing with quiet but very real pressures that often go unseen.

“This is why the Witterings Care Shop is so important. It will make a real difference to people’s lives and offer support, connection, and a place to turn when things feel difficult.”
