On Friday 28 November, Jess Brown-Fuller MP visited The Prebendal School in Chichester for a Q&A with students.
The morning consisted of a tour around the school, which is attended by children aged 2 to 13 years old, followed by a Q&A session with students.
Questions ranged from what it is like to be a woman in Parliament to the skills needed to become a Member of Parliament. Other topics raised were local healthcare, improving Chichester’s high street for young people and Jess’ top priorities for the constituency.
The visit marked the end of UK Parliament Week 2025, which took place between 24 and 30 November. This annual event is designed to spread the word about the role of Parliament and encourage people of all ages to learn more about how democracy works.
Jess Brown-Fuller will also be visiting Kingsham Primary School and holding Q&As with students from Chichester College and Bishop Luffa Debating Society over the coming weeks and in the New Year.
Following the visit, Jess Brown-Fuller said:
“It’s been a pleasure to spend time with pupils from Prebendal school today as part of UK Parliament Week. I was impressed by the range of topics we discussed, and it is fantastic to see young people engaging in democracy and sharing my passion for local issues.”
In Chichester constituency, a total of 29 organisations, including schools and community groups, signed up to participate in this year. Organisations participating could access a range of resources including an activity booklet, ballot box, and board game.
Schools registered for Parliament Week 2025 included; Bishop Luffa School, The Prebendal School, Chichester College Group, Chidham Primary School, Westbourne House School, Bosham Primary, St Josephs C of E Primary, Kingsham Primary, Seal Primary Academy, Bartons Primary and Oakwood School.
Many youth groups also signed up, including Fishbourne Rainbows, Tangmere Scout Group, Bosham Brownies, Hunston Brownies, Westbourne Scouts and Southbourne Brownies, as well as Youth Cabinet and UK Youth Parliament members from West Sussex.
Jess Brown-Fuller said:
“I am delighted that so many school and youth groups have taken part in UK Parliament 2025. Raising awareness of how democracy works and encouraging young people to participate in local action is so important. It’s schemes like this that help us to nurture the activists and leaders of the future.”
“I look forward to visiting many of the schools and groups who have taken part in the coming weeks and month.”
